From January 1, 2016 Kazakhstani residents will be able to purchase high quality medicines at lower prices
Common trade area for medical products for the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia) will start functioning from January 1, 2016. Over the territory of the EEU there will be implemented only medications compliant with GMP standard ("Gold standard", confirming the efficacy, safety and quality of the drug). This will ensure Kazakhstani people access to effective drugs at lower prices due to competition between producers from all of state-participants of the EEU.
Free medical products circulation will function on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union after passing the registration procedure by the common rules that are based on the principles and approaches of the European Union. At the same time, there will be compliance with national requirements for the use of the state language in the labeling of the drug; instructions for medical use and implementation of state control and treatment supervision.
In Kazakhstan the main functions of safety, efficiency and quality of drugs, medical devices and medical equipment are assigned to the National Center for Drug, Medical Devices and Medical Equipment Expertise of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Kazakhstan (hereinafter - National Center for Drug Expertise).
This year, Test Centre of the National Center for Drug Expertise will be accredited by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM). The membership in EDQM will ensure the recognition of the test results carried out by National Center for Drug Expertise in Kazakhstan at the international level, as well as the exchange of experiences in the drug testing with the countries of Europe.
For the mutual recognition of inspections in the field of drugs, medical devices and medical equipment circulation, all countries of EEU should join the PIC / S – Pharmaceutical Inspection and Cooperation System- two international agreements between regulatory authorities of pharmaceutical sector, providing co-active and constructive cooperation in the field of GMP. Kazakhstan and Belarus have already applied to the PIC / S.

Recall, on May 29, 2014   the Agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union was signed that provided the establishment of the common market of goods, services, capital and labor of the Member States of the Union. Agreement about common principles and rules for the treatment of medicines and medical products was signed on December23, 2014.

The Kazakhstan doctors prepare for the next vaccination against measles
The Kazakhstan doctors prepare for the next vaccination against measles
Kazakhstani doctors are preparing for another vaccination campaign against measles. The campaign starts on October 1st throughout the country. The vaccination of teenagers aged from 15 to 19 years was stopped after mass appeals of children to hospitals in February. However, according to “31 channel, the medical inspection confirmed the safety of the vaccine and the campaign will be restarted.
In Kostanay, clinics have already compiled a list of those who did not manage to instill measles during the last immunization campaign. Those are 9,000 children from 15 to 19 years throughout the region who are in so-called risk groups. Vaccination teams have been formed and starting this October the doctors themselves will travel to first-aid posts in schools and universities.
"We have created 15 vaccination teams that will work simultaneously. Of course, there will be a schedule. In order to meet all sanitary standards one team will instill no more than 60 children a day", - says Gulnara Bekbosynova, deputy chief physician of the regional “Сlinic №1” in Kostanay.
From the beginning of the year, the incidence of measles has increased 10 times. More than 2000 cases throughout the country have been registered. However, it is hard to say whether this disappointing statistics will push people to get the vaccine. The first stage of the vaccination campaign was not the most successful. It started on the 16th of February  and three days later the program had to be abandoned because 264 teenagers were hospitalized with headaches and seizures.
About 200 million tenge was spent to purchase Indian vaccines that were successfully used in Europe for many years. Last year 240 million people from 45 countries were vaccinated. In turn, 400 000 adolescents aged from 15 to 19 years will become subjects of the second wave of immunization campaign in Kazakhstan.
"The date of October 1 was not chosen by chance.  Immunization of 2014 was suspended in February until May, when graduates of schools began active preparation for UNT.  Then, many teenagers are called to military service while the summer is a vacation time for many children and parents, "- says Zhandarbek Bekshin, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the end of the interview, Zhandarbek Bekshin noted that the vaccine was tested further at the National Center for Drug Expertise in Almaty. Studies have shown that the side effects were caused by psycho-emotional state which is typical for teenagers at these age range.
